First, I'd like to comment on how great Hobby Rising was. They were one of the only retailers that had this vehicle in stock and in the color that I wanted. They called me within minutes after placing the order to confirm the color and the order. It was shipped quickly and was received in a timely manner.
As for the Traxxas LaTrax Rally mini RC car... I couldn't be happier. I am an owner of an old HPI mini RC (at least 10 years or more old now) and its clear why Traxxas is one of the best. The vehicle is well designed and the layout is efficient. Meaning, its clear Traxxas took their time in ensuring the spacing between ECS, battery, servos, etc. Some would say the mini RC segment is borderline "Toy", but in my opinion this is a high quality hobby level RC car. I can see lots of potential for upgrades at a later date.
My only minor complaint is that the front steering is a bit too towed inward. I'm not sure if this was on purpose for handling or not, but I feel it causes some inconsistent steering when a low throttle compared to high throttle (acts as if it has torque steer.)
I've run the battery out a several times now with my 4 year old and he has a blast with it both chasing it and driving it (on 50% throttle mode). The body is high quality and the paint is holding up to the hits and bangs that my 4 year old dishes out.
Overall, this is a great RC car for a Dad and kid to enjoy. Would highly recommend for basements or garages during winter... haven't tested outside yet since I'm enjoying running it in my basement with the kids.
